Global Cyber Security Summit to be held in Istanbul

TPQ will be present at this year's LOCARD Global Cyber Security Summit which will be held in Istanbul on the 20th and 21st of May 2016. The Summit, hosting renowned international cyber security experts, ethical hackers, and international law enforcers, will discuss the newest research and latest cyber threats in today's world, centered around this year's theme: "Are you safe?" With partner country Spain, the Turkish Government, and a range of cyber security pundits, the Summit will explore topical issues such as cyber terrorism and cyber crime. TPQ was represented at the 19th Turkish Bankers Association UK (TBA) Ball in London on 16 April 2016

The Turkish Bankers Association UK (TBA) was founded by İş Bankasi, Ziraat Bankasi, Turkiye Cumhuriyeti Merkez Bankasi and Turkish Bank UK in London in 1990. It is open to those working in the City of London's financial services (as well as its side sectors). The Association has a membership of just over 2,000 finance professionals in London, and a further 4,000 members who were once working in London but have now moved to Istanbul, NY, Paris, Frankfurt, Tokyo or Hong Kong. The Association is a non-profit organization with the mission to establish strong working relations among its members.

The proceeds from the 19th Turkish Bankers Ball were donated to Cancer Research and Children with Leukemia. TPQ's were included in all gift bags that went out to TBA's members.

TPQ welcomes a new member to its Advisory Board: Prof. Dr. Ekmeleddin İhsanoğlu

Ekmeleddin İhsanoğlu is a Turkish academic, diplomat, Member of the Turkish Parliament and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), and the ninth Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) (2004-2013). He was the founding Director General of the Research Center for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA) in Istanbul for 25 years, and the first professor and founding head of the Department of History of Science at Istanbul University. Professor İhsanoğlu has taught and lectured in many leading universities in Europe and the US, and has published books, articles and papers in different languages on science, the history of science, and relations between the Muslim and Western world. İhsanoğlu was also a presidential candidate in the 2014 election and won 38.5% of the total votes. Professor İhsanoğlu brings with him a wealth of experience and wisdom, and we are honored to welcome him to our board.

TPQ welcomes a new Managing Editor: Melis Woodham

In our search for a new Managing Editor, we came across many interesting and qualified candidates, and we'd like to thank them all for their interest in the position. After an in-depth process, we have hired Melis Woodham, who comes to us after working as a Senior Media Relations and Content Development Specialist at Türk Telekom. Melis also has experience in TV and online journalism where she worked at Al Jazeera English in Doha, Qatar (2008—2011) and Al Jazeera Türk in Istanbul Turkey (2011—2015) as a producer. She graduated from Bilkent University in 2005 and completed her Master's Degree at Georgetown University where she studied Communication, Culture and Technology.

We welcome Melis in this new chapter for TPQ.
